In early 2024, songwriter David Lawson Froggatt was persuaded by good friend Liam Hennessy to get out of the house and add a little more sonic noise to the songs he’d been keeping close.

Recognising something good, Liam reached out to former collaborators Karol Ryan and Alan Gannon and sure enough, Lawson and Racket were born. 

No stranger to the stage, Lawson spent the late naughties as a travelling troubadour, but since then, had pretty much hung his guitar to the wall. Originally from Wrexham in North Wales, he’s been a Kilkenny resident for almost a decade. Gannon, Hennessy and Ryan have long been on the scene.

Recently boosted by the addition of percussionist John Ryan, the band are known for the energy they throw at the songs and their uncomplicated, authentic sound.  A blend of acoustic and electric guitars, driving drums, and the earthy pulse of a double bass.
