Featuring Bren Berry, McKowski, David Murphy, Cormac Curran
Bren Berry & The Slow Horses will reimagine Bren’s majestic debut solo album IN HOPE OUR STARS ALIGN which featured in The Irish Times Critics Top 10 Irish Albums of The Year 2025 as well as at No 7 in Tom Dunne’s Newstalk radio show’s Albums of the Year.
The album title is inspired by Seamus Heaney’s “The Cure At Troy” and the record is a brilliant collection of protest songs and love letters which are coloured with a sense of hope and possibility. Many of the songs glide along with layers of alt Americana guitars and sweet harmonies including the Ennio Morricone-inspired “Knives (Heavy Metal Rain)” and the infectious “Bullet Proof” which finds Berry singing about booze, tattoos, landlords, sex, cars, bullets and an iconic cast including Paul Newman, Brando, McQueen, Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Bruce Lee and the Wrecking Crew.
Berry and a bunch of his close friends have come together for the Kilkenny Roots Festival to strip things back and develop these influences to see where the songs go.
